Forming a Square

Just hang on a minute. Before the news cycle moves on recklessly to the next big thing, can I digest what’s happened? A cabinet minister has been found guilty by an independent enquiry of bullying civil servants. And the Prime Minister’s response is to issue a message to his colleagues to “form a square around the Prittster.”

We’ve got used to eccentricities from the court of Trump, but this is right up there with them, and apparently it’s accepted as routine. I wouldn’t expect a transient blog post to affect this situation, but we know that poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world, so maybe a poem will stir the conscience of posterity? Anyway, I tried. See “Forming a Square”, at www.paulfranciswrites.co.uk/poemsfromthenews
