Lee Cain apparently suggested that Allegra Stratton should become spokesperson for the Prime Minister. but then he had second thoughts, and now he’s circulating his opinion that another candidate performed much better in the audition process, and ought to be given the job.

Boris Johnson ignored the pleas of medical experts, senior Tories, other cabinet colleagues and insisted that Dominic Cummings keep his position after the notorious trip to Durham, with catastrophic effects for public morale and response to coronavirus. But then, apparently, he would regularly remind Cummings of this is meetings when the two disagreed.

Notice a common theme? Liltte lads, making a mistake, and then taking it out on someone else. It’s now obvious to everyone that for the past year we’ve been governed by an immature, dysfunctional clique still thrilled by the lies they told to win the Brexit vote. It can’t entirely be an accident that two of the key players this week have been Carrie Symonds and Allegra Stratton. Could it be, finally, that it’s time for something nearer gender equality in the Johnson administration? Let’s hope so. It couldn’t be worse.
