After the headlines, we get the story behind the revelations of the CIA’s involvement in torture. And one of the heroes of the story is an eighty-one year old lady called Dianne Feinstein. Never a great radical, she nonetheless felt that it was important that the truth be told. “I came to the conclusion that America’s greatness is being able to say we made a mistake and we are going to correct it and go on from there.” Next month the Republicans take over the Senate and Feinstein will be gone, but I think they’ll miss her. Any offers for who might be playing that role over here?
