The colour of justice

George Zimmerman has been acquitted of the murder of 17 year old Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman was armed and Martin wasn’t. Martin was going home from a store with a can of ice tea and a bag of skittles.  Zimmermann followed Martin, because he thought he was a criminal. There was an argument and Zimmerman shot Martin. Florida has a “stand your ground” law, supported by the National Rifle Association, which says that deadly force is permitted if the person “reasonably believes” it is necessary to protect their own life or to prevent a crime. Zimmerman is white-Hispanic; Martin was black.
