Kevin Spacey on TV

A golden age of TV, says Spacey, and it’s hard to disagree. I shudder to think how I’d feel without the big five boxed sets – Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men, Six Feet Under, Breaking Bad. But even the UK is doing its bit, with Top of the Lake and Southcliffe as the most recent evidence. Neither was perfect, but both were well worth watching in very different ways, with scripts that were attempting something far more ambitious than the usual screen filler.
