NSA surveillance

Hollande and Merkel are concerned, and Obama confirms that it’s an important issue, but only here in the UK do we not seem to care about the US surveillance story. Government MPs are much more exercised about Edward Snowden revealing secrets, and thereby putting agents at risk. It’s true he had to break the Official Secrets Act to reveal what was going on. But that concern for control over vital information recedes a little when you know that he was a contractor hired to carry out government business, and that there are 480,000 others who might also have spilt the beans.
