Borgen’s back

And I want to be enthusiastic about it. So much of it is good – the idea, the central character, the family stuff. But as usual, it breaks down on the politics. We need a zappy, watchable episode, that swings one way and then the other. Nyborg’s idealistic party is broke; hey, there’s a businessman who’ll give them money – great!; hang on, maybe there are strings attached. She goes to see him; there are strings attached; she gives the money back. So far, so eventful – lots of suspense. But it’s at the risk of making her look like an idiot. Any experienced political leader with an once of nous would have seen this possibility coming right from the start. And that keeps happening. Sure, it’s very watchable, but i’m not convinced.
