If this is Thursday, it must be Shrewsbury. Ludlow was Tuesday, and next Monday is Much Wenlock, and there’s another five after that…the Wenlock Poetry Festival is on the road, with a vengeance. Nadia Kingsley, who’s poured massive amounts of work into editing the anthology, which has contributions from most of the festival’s performing poets, has also set up a countywide tour to promote same. five poets each time, usually with 15 minutes each – chunky helping of poetry, but so far the punters seem to like it. Terrific range, which tonight extended from Nick Pearson (dry, understated musings on urban life) to Mia Cunningham, shropshire young Poet Laureate, who’s fifteen, talented and totally irrepressible. A really good night.
