Greeks vote for freedom

I know, I know. There’s some windy rhetoric in there, and some of their allies aren’t ideal, and maybe there won’t be an entirely happy ending BUT I’m still delighted that a substantial majority of Greek voters reject austerity as the only way to go. For them, it means watching fat cats continue to rake in profits and avoid tax, while poorer people starve, lose jobs, and basically run out of options. There has to be something better than what they’ve faced over the past few months, and I don’t blame them for seeing if they can find it. As soon as they do, of course, the powers that be start to panic and foresee doom, and working people all over Europe start to wonder if there really might be an alternative…Interesting times.
